In PURSUIT OF DELICIOUSNESS ( The Urban Grind)
A couple of weeks ago i let you know that i will be embarking on finding us the finest coffee shop our streets have to offer and i must say i you are definitely in for a treat today.
Let me get right to it and introduce you to the Urban Grind Coffee Shop ,located in the new highway mall just off Uhuru Highway next to Nakumatt Mega. I must say it is a one of a kind coffee shop. Despite being famous for its african infused Teppanyaki grill, (which promotes a sense of community just as the japanese traditions would enlighten us) it carries with it a great sense of an urban cultural set story. They use a fusion of an old rustic texture from the mazeras on the walls with the traditional japanese wood craftsmanship present in the lamp shades and geometric window which in turn provides a free flow of air and a view of the water fountain that creates a trifecta of soothing vibes. For all claustrophobics out there, the window does wonders for this place , you have nothing to fear in this coffee shop.
There is more from this place , just like Java (the coffee house) this placed used an underground fine artist (Tajman Biko ) to create beautiful paintings that are hung on the walls and each with a story of its own to tell. Most fascinating bit is that they are not done on canvas but on plywood and are very textured and in 3D.
Most of the times you ask for the house coffee you’re brought the cheapest one on the menu with some cream depending on how you fancy yours. In my pursuit of deliciousness , the barista sure did out do her self by bringing me two very special coffees. One was the Urban Grind macchiato which has a spicy flavour.
Two was the Baileys Mocha which am sure you will love at the end of a busy day. Has whip cream and a cherry to garnish.
WARNING: Do not drink the baileys mocha when the sun is up I tried that dint go so well for me. Talk about a long walk in the sun, although quite frankly i would term it as my favourite and beats the cliche of the Irish coffee. Baileys Mocha any day
I would give you the secret recipe but i want you should definitely head out to urban grind and excite your taste buds.
In addition to being a coffee house they host THE COFFEE TALK which occurs every fortnight on thursdays and also wine appreciation classes.
Now we know a coffee shop isn’t complete without WIFI , (oh WIFI what would we do without you).
for any comments or suggestions just type them in down below, thank you for reading and i hope you find this place as cosy and warm as i did.
Ciao 🙂 .
